Happy Thanksgiving!

Tuesday, November 22nd, 2011

I was asked the other day, what are you thankful for? When I sat down to think about what I am really thankful for, so many thoughts came to mind! So much has happened in my life, so much growth, goals achieved, dreams come true and bigger dreams emerging. However, it all kept going back to the one thing that none of this would have been possible without: I was thankful for all of YOU, my dedicated and very faithful customers.

Happy Thanksgiving from Overboard Designs

Some of you we haven’t seen in years, and some of you we still work with on a daily basis. The Boating Blues

Friday, November 11th, 2011

Do you ever get the boating blues? I sure do! Once it begins to get colder, the leaves are almost off the trees and jeans and sweaters are in my every day wardrobe, I go into hibernation mode and begin to get sad thinking of my fun summer days that have passed.

You must be wondering, “what can I do to not get the boating blues this winter?” and I am here to help!

Here are 4 things to do to get you and your family/friends out of the blues:

  • Plan a schedule of boating tasks: I like to plan a monthly “boating task” for myself to keep me thinking about my great summer days and to remember that boating season is only a few short months away. I begin with winterizing my boat, renovations that have been in need all summer, “winter cleaning and organizing” to do all the jobs I put off during the warm months and more! This way, every month I have a reason to be around my pride and joy and it helps me stay clear of the boating blues.
  • Themed parties: For those of you who leave your boat in a slip, why not have a holiday party on your boat? It will be cold but who cares? Dress warm and hang out on the slip with your friends and family for a winter boat party! If your boat is kept in storage over the winter like mine is, than have a themed party at your house: Beach Party (Bikinis and swim trunks) or Sailor Party (everyone has to come dressed up as a sailor or crew)!
  • Christmas gifts: Let’s not forget that the best gifts given are the ones that give you a reason to visit your boat! I like to ask for new boating supplies or services to update my boat over the winter to keep me excited and anxious for Spring!
  • Boat show- My favorite event! The beginning of the year brings the biggest and most anticipated Boat Show! It is everything a boat owner could want on a cold day! This show helps me “Spring” into boating season! Plus, it gives me something to spend my Christmas cash on!

Boating season is over but as you can see there are plenty of ways to keep you out of the boating blues and eager to jump back into Spring next year!

Finally… The Houseboat Renovation is Complete!

Sunday, November 6th, 2011

As you can see from the before and after photos below the Overboard Designs houseboat was a disaster when first purchased one year ago! The 90s teal theme on the outside was a sore to see, the interior was grungy and looked like it was straight out of 1990s teens bedroom and it was a project no one wanted to attempt to fix. Many would have thought: just put this boat out of its misery.

However, that is not what Overboard Designs’ owner, Cibele Ziobrowski, thought. She saw a gem. A diamond in the rough. She purchased the boat with every intent to turn it around and make it shine! Cibele took what she knew best, boat exterior/interior renovation, and showed the boating world the amazing work her company is capable of performing/ doing.

This complete re-do consisted of not only all-new upholstery and canvas, but also a new wraparound soffit ceiling with lighting, stripped down and re-stained cabinetry, new window trims, wall paint, new tile floors, new carpet, new fittings and hardware throughout the entire boat, new bedding in all 4 queen rooms, all new appliances, new furniture, new draperies and decorations all throughout, and a new 22ft party top for shade on the top deck making it the ultimate hang out spot!

This four bedroom houseboat is the perfect addition for an individual or couple whom is looking for their first house boat. It is trendy, spacious and great for entertaining. There is a full bathroom with a shower, a half bath with washer and dryer, complete working kitchen, lots of closet and drawer space, and several decks (front deck is completely enclosed) including a large full-length deck on the second story of the houseboat.

If you have an interest in purchasing this first-class boat that was specially designed by Overboard Designs and their crew, contact Cibele at Cibele@overboarddesigns.com or call 678-641-1561.

How to Decorate your Boat for Halloween

Monday, October 24th, 2011

Halloween is a great holiday for boaters.  The weather is cool and crisp, the nights are still clear with bright stars and boaters are excited to have one last get-together with their friends on the water.  If you plan on entertaining on your boat for the most fun holiday of the year, then you must decorate appropriately!

Ideas you should consider when decorating your boat:

  • Music Playlist: Good tunes make the best of any celebration.  Create a playlist of music based on your crowd and mix in a few fun Halloween-based songs to keep the party in the Halloween spirit!
  • Cobwebs: You can easily make your boat look creepy with fake spider webs.  Cover your doorways, windows and more to get a spooky outdoor feel.  Adding fake spiders would be a good touch, too!
  • Lights: Decorate your boat with orange lights.  You can find these at any retail store and they are perfect for stringing on the inside and outside of your boat.  You can even get black lights and glow-in-the-dark items to give an extra suspense-type of feel.
  • Fog and strobe lights: These two are always fun for spooky Halloween environments by giving the feel of a haunted house!
  • Halloween inflatables and character decorations.  You can buy skeletons, mummies, ghosts and more to help decorate the inside and outside of your boat.

All of these ideas are sure to help you create a festive Halloween party whether you are entertaining for adults or kids.  Include these easy-to-do tips to your Halloween boat party this year and it is sure to be one your friends and family won’t forget!
